Successful Other Small Breed Adoptions
(Adopted Feb.22/07)
Are you looking for a great young dog with a ton of energy to keep up with you? Well look no further! Parker is 50% Chihuahua 50% Dachshund 100% fun. This little guy is just waiting for a permanent, responsible loving home. He loves toys, chewies and lots of games to keep him busy. He loves other dogs and is full of energy. Couch potatoes need not apply! He will require a big hike, long walks, trips to the dog park or doggie day care most days of the week, due to his age and energy level. He is not destructive but just a ball of energy! He is great snuggler in the bed and rides well in a crate in the car, although we would not consider him crate trained at home. He uses a doggie door at his foster home with great success. He would do fine with other dogs in the house, as long as they are good players. And yes... his ears REALLY are that big!

"Skippy" nka Ralphie
Long Haired Chihuahua
3 years old
Male/neutered/shots current
5 lbs
Here is a sweet little boy you may remember. Skippy was adopted to a family about one month ago but returned to us as he began showing some fear behaviors- toward 2 family members. At the same time he developed an anal gland abscess, which is now healed. Since we saw no evidence of fear behaviors during his screening process or at his daily play dates at doggie day care, we can only assume his fear behaviors were result of a pain response from his anal glad abscess.
In any event we will be looking for a new, quiet home with no male family members and no resident children.
He is a snuggle bunny who enjoys his chewies and toys. He is good with other small dogs and cats. He likes his walks to the park then home to watch a little TV.
Skippy is
sensitive and loving dog who is patiently waiting for the right home
where he can open his heart and show you the great little guy we see!
Skippy has nice Mom, now residing in Richmond, B.C. Canada

Peso
Chihuahua
Male/neutered/shots current
3 years old
7 lbs
Peso is a great long legged Chihuahua. He has cute markings of brown and cream. He is about 7 lbs of silliness. He is great with other dogs (big and small) as well as cats. He LOVES to sleep in the bed (under the covers, of course) and is learning to walk politely on a leash. He is a goofy guy, who could play and wrestle all day if you asked, but could also snuggle if that was on the agenda. The perfect home for Peso would be one either with another dog to play with or one that play dates with doggie friends is a regular occurrence. He gets such great joy from playing with other dogs, it would be a shame not to keep that as a part of his life.
One of his most favorite thing is to have a person sing to him.. yes, sing. He jumps around and dances, Its quite the sight! He loves plushy toys, chewies and mini tennis balls. And is the master of keep away games with other dogs.
At his foster home he uses his dog door like a champ. As with ANY small dog getting outside for potty is needed more frequently than with larger dogs. So he would need access to a outside potty are at least once per 4 hours. He prefers outside and is not savvy with indoor pee pads.
Peso was originally found as a stray. We believe he was probably part of a puppy mill situation as he has two (healing) calluses on his rear hocks, consistent with sitting on a grate for weeks on end. He is a social eater, also consistent with being in a puppy mill... when he first arrived with us, he did not know how to eat alone. He preferred to eat in the kitchen with other dogs or with a person near by for encouragement. His foster family is working diligently on this and he it really should not be an issue in a few days time. He is, surprisingly, fine by himself- as he does not appear to have any anxiety of being alone. He will travel quietly in a crate in the car, but we would not consider him fully crate trained.
Peso is hoping for a
family who enjoys walks to the park, play dates with other dogs or trips
to the small dog park. He promises to be the best boy he can be... he
deserves a chance at a great life.

16lbs
14 inches tall
Mindy is a loving happy puppy who loves to play with her doggie friends

and crate trained. She loves to go for walks and car rides and to cuddle
on her person's lap. Every day is an adventure to Mindy and everything
is a new toy. Mindy's new family will need to continue to work on basic
commands and socialization. She would love to have a doggie brother or
sister to play with. Because of her puppy enthusiasm, no children under

Hobi
Pomeranian
Male neutered
App. 4-5 years old
App. 12 lbs
*with deep regret Hobi passed from heart
failure Sept/14*
Hobi is
a handsome dog who came into rescue due to a divorce. He has had a few upheavals
lately which are causing some stress but he is handling it fairly well.
He is a
larger Pomeranian, about 12 lbs. He is a strawberry blond with a brown nose and
light colored eyes…very handsome dog. He has been neutered and has sparkling
teeth. He is very sweet-natured and gets along with people and other small dogs
that he has met. We don’t know about cats but foster mom thinks he would
handle cats with no concerns. He was not interested in the bird or the bunny he
saw so we think he would be fine with cats.
He
walks well on a leash, stays with you, slow or fast, following the walkers lead.
He rides quietly in the car as well, sitting in the back seat behaving himself.
He came with his own doggie house, a kind of square, portable nylon tent in
which he spends the night. He is neither a fussy eater nor a beggar. We think he
is quite a handsome guy with energy to play. He likes to fetch and to wrestle.
We don’t know how he is with children.
Hobi has two wonderful new parents, residing in Maple Falls, WA
(Adopted March 17/07)
Rags
Brussels Griffon X
Male (soon to be neutered)
App. 18 months - 24 months old
4.5 lbs
Oh my goodness! Not only is Rags just as cute as a button, he is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met! Poor little Rags started his life out in a puppy mill so will require much patience with his socialization. He, of course, prefers to be carried about and snuggles up close to you whenever possible. Rags is very shy, but once he warms up, he can zip around at lightning speed! He does the dearest little dance while standing/walking on his back legs. He will wave his arms in the air until you pick him up! Its just precious! He is currently in potty training 101 and is doing amazingly well. Due to Rags tiny size, he's much to fragile for children under the age of 12. If you want a tiny little guy to tuck into your sweater and carry around, this is your tiny little man!
Rags is just a dollbaby,
he will be neutered and available for adoption after March 12/07.
Rags has a Dad, who will most likely carry him everywhere, and a darling new
Mom...after they lost C.J. to a tragic accident, they
needed another baby to dote on, residing in Port Hadlock, WA
(Adopted March 17/07)
Amber
Boston Terrier X
Female (soon to be spayed)
7 months old
Can we
say happy puppy?! This beautiful girl is a loving playful baby whose only desire
is to belong. She walks on a lead and is crate trained. She is working on potty
training and is very close to “getting it”. Amber was purchased to be the
dog for a little boy and it took several months for his parents to realize he
was just too young at 2 yrs old to take care of a puppy. She went to another
home for a few days where there was another Boston Terrier but that dog did not
appreciate sharing her space and her person with a puppy. Thankfully at that
point someone called rescue.
Amber
does not know commands and can be a bit out of bounds but with her loving spirit
and her willingness to please it will not take long to train her. Amber would do
well in a family with older children. She would love to have another dog to play
with and she will need a yard and plenty of exercise. Whoever brings this baby
into their family will find themselves with a gem truly beyond price.
Amber now lives happily in Kirkland, WA
(Adopted March 18/07)
Willis
Schnauzer mix
Male/neutered
App. 5 years old
I am very well behaved. I don't potty in the house, I don't bark very
much. I do well taking baths and getting my hair and nails trimmed.
I LOVE to cuddle and just lay around with someone in my company. I prefer
to be inside most of the time, but I do love walks. I do well with other
animals, but I love having all the attention myself, but I can manage with other
dogs. I am just a laid back pooch who just likes to have someone to
love. I give the sweetest kisses. I did not know what bones were to
chew on, but after a couple of days, I figured it out, and I really don't know
toys. I have learned that laying on my back for a bellyrub is wonderful, I
love that. I just want a warm place to live and someone to love and
someone who loves me as much as I love them.
A kind and loving home, for a kind and loving dog was found, he now resides
happily in Bellingham, WA
(Adopted March 23/07)

Brogan
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Male/neutered/shots current
2 years old
15 lbs
Shamus, Paddy and Brogan all came from a breeding situation, where the breeder
felt it was time to downsize her kennels. These boys are starved for affection,
but are somewhat timid. They all act like puppies, they do not have a clue
about walking on a leash. You will not regret bringing one of these
darlings into your home, they will thrive with constant attention. These
three boys, all had very bad ear infections, all have been neutered, shots,
microchipped. Paddy also had an hernia repair and dental. None of
them have heart problems, or hearing problems (thank goodness)...
They will only be adopted to a home with other Cavaliers or similar breeds,
though they seem to do fine with other breeds as well, playing with Shih Tzu:-)
Shamus and Brogan, now reside in Vancouver WA, together with a fabulous new Mom,
and Hope, their beautiful new sister Cavalier.
Paddy has a wonderful family, and his new best friend, a wonderful young
boy..and his new sister Cavalier, Lacy, residing in Tacoma, WA
