(Readopted Oct. 1/07)
Oscar
Miniature Schnauzer
Male neutered/shots current
2 years old
30 (chubby lbs)
Oscar does not like his picture taken, so a best can do here...he turned away or
looked grumpy...Oscar is a big mini, weight wise he is chubby, and certainly
needs to lose a few pounds, but he is also tall..
Oscar is a healthy, strong and loveable boy, who at times likes to have his own
way, he loves to go on walks, and is very used to two walks a day, he loves to
play with toys and play outside with balls. He is housetrained, he is not
comfortable around small children, he needs an adult, terrier experienced
home...
Oscar has a wonderful home, with a lovely lady in Langley, B.C. Canada
(Adopted May 5/07)
Seth
American Eskimo/pug or known as a
Pug-A-Mo
Male/neutered/shots current
3 years old
22 (chubby lbs)
Seth is housetrained and behaves very well in the house. We think he may
have been used to people food as he did not eat for awhile, but he is doing fine
now with doggie food. Seth is a quiet dog and VERY devoted. He
bonded quickly to a visiting lady, but is becoming slightly less
dependent. He loves to go for walks, and behaves very well in the
car. He is fine with other smaller dogs, and apparently lived with a
larger dog in his previous home. He is shy but will come around a be a
very nice companion for someone who can bring out his qualities.
Everyone thinks he is a nice looking boy, even people who are not small dog
people.
We initially thought he was overweight, but it is more his build, carries his
weight in his neck and shoulders (just like a pug).
He loves to go, he would make a great walking or hiking buddy
Seth has two doting
parents, residing in Bellingham, WA

Penelope (nka Missy)
Toy Poodle
Female/spayed/shots current
10 months old
6 lbs
Penny is a little pistol. She is very demanding to be held, loved and to
be with you 24/7. She needs guidance to truly become the perfect lil girl
she is meant to be. She needs a home with someone who is dog savvy, and
willing to work with her, if you are, you will get a wonderful dog. She is
so smart, and like most poodles, want to please...so lets continue to show her
how, as he foster Mom is showing her. Enrolling her in obedience training
will be part of the requirement for adoption.
Adult home only
Great Mom who wanted to work with this lil girl, residing in Edmonds, WA

*Darling Roxie passed away Feb/12 from a
brain tumor, rest in peace lil girl*

life...well that is all changed now..she is wonderful, and found a great family
to love her, residing in Bellingham, WA
(Adopted May 21/07)
Sheba
Schnauzer/Terrier X
Female/spayed/shots current
8 months old
16 inches Tall
31 lbs
Sheba is a great girl. She is energetic, adventurous and full of joy.
She loves people and other dogs and rides in cars and walks and toys and
almost everything she sees. She has good house manners and seems to be
house broken. She ended up in the shelter as her owners were moving and
could not take her. She passed all of her temperament tests except that
she did not like it when a hand took away the bowl of food she was
eating-she growled at it. Sheba has had no problems at her foster home.
She shares her food bowl and is submissive to the older dogs even though
most of them are much smaller than she. Sheba definitely needs a family
who will exercise her and keep her busy and she would love a doggy pal
to run with. This is a great puppy who is going to wiggle her way into
your heart if you give her half a chance.
Now residing in Seattle, WA

Harry
Bichon Frise
Male/neutered/shots current
2 years old
12 lbs
HAPPY HARRY...that's my name...I love to play, love to be loved, love to have a
buddy to play with, preferably a breed like me. I am verging on separation
anxiety, cause I was brought to the vet with my mate, for boarding, and we were
abandoned. After one month, my parents finally came back..but they only
took my sister and left me behind. The people at the vet's office were
very nice to me, but I was afraid, lonely and scared. So I can be very
demanding about being with you, or I will cry. I seem alright if you have
to leave, but not if you shut me out of your bedroom, I insist on sleeping with
you, usually on your head:-) I am having fun in foster care, I have
another Bichon that I am hanging with...so if you want a devoted lil buddy,
please come and meet me.
Harry found a home, who are true Bichon lovers, happily residing in Kennewick,

Rusty
Chihuahua/Beagle
Male/neutered/shots current
2 years old
12 lbs
Hey everybody... I'm Rusty! Are you looking for a bundle of energy? Look no further!
I'm a great dog, who has, unfortunately, never been shown ANY boundaries or limits before.... but don't let that scare you though. I am eager to please!
I am good with other dogs, I have even been to Doggie Day Care where I love to wrestle and play. I am defiantly for an experienced home without any children, since I will need some good positive reinforcement obedience training to get me on track. In fact, it will be required for my adoption. (Any Positive Reward Based Obedience Class in Your area)
In my foster home I am learning lots of stuff (for the first time ever!) like sit, down and manners.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE to takes walks, and that's good because a dog with my energy, well... that energy has to come out some how... and the best way to keep me on track is to work my mind AND body. So, if you are into walks too- we could be great friends.
A home with an assertive, confidant dog would be great for me. I take direction very well.... and listen to other dogs who let me know the rules.
I am totally into plushy toys, balls and games.
But believe me... when
its time to snuggle I am all yours!
Happily residing in Bellingham, WA

Lucy (nka Roxy-Rose)
Silky/Yorkshire Terrier
Female/spayed/shots current
5 years old
17 lbs
Lucy was sadly turned into a shelter because her previous owners could no longer
care for her. This true red head (she's more red than her pics show
because my flash went off) is a very energetic sweetheart! She has a gusto
for life and doesn't want to miss a moment of it!! She will require some
leash training and other basic commands, so I would recommend enrollment in a
basic puppy class to refresh her memory. She is housebroken if you have a
steady schedule and can take her outside on a consistent basis. Lucy loves
attention in all forms and will reward you greatly with lavish kisses!
However, we do have a bit of a mystery on our hands with Lucy. Sometimes
she likes her lower back scratched, and sometimes she doesn't. And she
will clearly let you know when she is 'not' in the mood for such attention.
We have had her medically evaluated for this (including x-rays) and nothing
physically out of the ordinary is revealing itself. Perhaps there is
an issue here with her prior life? We just are not sure at this time.
Therefore, Lucy will need to be placed in a home with Terrier or similar breed experience
only. She does like other dogs of similar breed once she gets to know
them and loves to play. Lucy is very loving and will kiss your face shiny
clean whenever you give her the opportunity to do so. She also does best
on an hypoallergenic diet. I have her on a lamb/rice diet and she is
doing very well on it. She would also not be appropriate for a home with
children under the age of 12 yrs old or a home with kitties. Need a
buddy to romp with!! Lucy is the one for you!!!
A very special lady adopted this girl, residing in San Jose, CA (yes her new Mom flew out to meet her)
(Adopted May 29/07)
Rascal
Miniature Poodle
Male/neutered/shots current
8 months old
12 lbs
Rascal is a wonderful baby. He is a bit shy at first but comes round
very quickly. He loves to ride in the car, run in the yard and cuddle in
your arms. He had not been around dogs before he came into rescue but
loves to run through the yard (and the house) with the other puppies and
seems to never tire of playing. He was turned into the shelter because
his owners were moving and was sent to rescue because he was so shy in
the shelter. He is walks well on a leash and seems to be mostly house
trained. He is quickly learning to deal with new people and new
experiences. Rascal would love a doggy buddy to play with and a yard to
run in but mostly he just wants a family to call his own.
Wonderful home, for a darling baby boy, residing in Bellingham, WA

Peaves
Long Haired Chihuahua
Male/neutered/shots current
3 years old
7 lbs
Are you Looking for a best buddy? Look No further... I am a great little Long Haired Chihuahua who is ready to settle down with the right family.
I am great with men and women, but very timid around children, they are just too much for me, so a home with no children/grandchildren will be required.
I am quiet... but I will sure to let you know if we have a visitor. I love to wander a fully fenced yard. I have been recently neutered so I am wearing a belly band at my foster family's house.. but they will be the first to tell you I have not made one mistake! I am taken out every few hours and am a very good boy in that department!
I absolutely love chew time... I settle in my bed and am very relaxed. I have shown a little interest in toys, but would rather lay on my back and get belly rubs. I am great with other small dogs and cats. I snore when I sleep... on my back, like a person. Did you notice I like to stick out my tongue? I am too cute!
I will absolutely require a good patch of sun! I could spend hours napping! I enjoy walks to the park, but need some training on not barking at strangers when they pass by....
Right now my foster family has me sit and focus on them when people walk by... I get a treat if I am quiet.
When I was neutered I also had a hernia repaired as well as a retained testicle (it did not drop when I was a puppy) so I am still tender in my abdomen. I do not like to be picked up "quickly" don't get me wrong I LOVE being picked up... just be soft with me until I heal.
Do you know much about Chi? We all love to sleep under the covers and we have a habit of doing a few spins when we are happy, excited, getting ready to go to bed, getting ready to eat...ok just about all the time! We have alot of character.
Ok... enough about me, here is what I need from you:
Patience... like
all re-homed dogs I need time to adjust to a new family.
A warm bed (yours)... if you are not willing to share, get a Labrador!
A warm bed (mine)... right in the middle of all the action, please.
Someone who is home alot: Like all small dogs I need to go potty frequently
Treats... I will do just about anything for a piece of cheese.
Snuggles... I like to watch animal planet and LOST...
I adored this boy, and he went to a fantastic home, who adore him also, happy and spinning in Oregon.
(Adopted May 31/07)
Andy
Chihuahua X
Male/neutered/shots current
3 years old
13 lbs
Hey everybody... I'm Andy, the life of the party! I am a silly guy who has not had many boundaries given to me... but I am ready and willing to learn. I am a high energy boy who enjoys walks, hikes and other types of outings.
Although I really enjoy other dogs I can tend to be a little bit of a bully, if I am allowed to, so either a very confident dog who teaches me life lessons OR for me to be an only dog is best for me. I have also shown a bit of possessive behaviors over food type toys(to other dogs not people)...
Don't let this all scare you... I really am just longing for someone to give me guidance and shown me how to be a good boy.
An experienced home is what I need were I can receive boundaries that I so desperately am longing for.
Right now I am learning positive reward based training to set me up to succeed, if you think I might be a good match for you, you should plan on keeping up with my training, as it will be required for my adoption.
You will need to take
me to a Positive Reward based Training Class, of your choice, but do know
sign up must happen before my adoption is complete.
