Successful Other Small Breed Adoptions

(Adopted Dec.2/07)
Armand
Toy Poodle
Male/neutered/shots current
12 months old
9 lbs

This little guy is such a sweet boy. He
loves to play with toys and other small dogs. He can walk on a leash and
likes to ride in the car. Armand came from a kennel/puppy mill situation and is a
little shy. He will need a quite home, no small children please. His new
people will need to be gentle and move very slow with him but once you
have earned his trust he will be yours forever and he will melt your
heart. He will need a fenced in yard. A basic, positive obedience class
is recommended. Armand loves food and he has very good potty manners. He
is used to being in a crate at night time and really appreciates a cushy
bed. Since he is just a young guy he does like to chew so he will need
the right kind of chews to keep him busy and out of trouble. SOOOO if
you are looking for a very cute, loving and playful little poodle then
"Armand" is the guy for you.

Adult home ONLY..and dog experience a MUST

A great home was found for this lil boy, with people who understood his needs...residing in Bellingham, WA

(Adopted Dec.5/07)
Delaney
West Highland Terrier
Female/spayed/shots current
18 months old

Delaney is a mischievous, playful little terrier girl. She loves to chase balls and leaves and the occasional bug; dig in the yard and scamper through the house with the other pups. She grabs scraps of papers and runs with them; comes (sometimes) when she is called and walks on the leash well especially if we are going somewhere she wants to be. In short she is a normal stubborn, wonderful Westie pup.

When Delaney came to us no one would have recognized her breed.

She truly looked like a Chinese Crested.  Since before she was 6 months old, her breeder had struggled unsuccessfully to get her skin condition under control so she could become a breeding bitch. Finally he gave her to a vet who sent her on to rescue.  After 4 months of raw food, natural treats, weekly medicated bathes and medications, Delaney has regained most of her hair and really begins to look (and act) like the little Westie girl she is.  Unfortunately even now she is not completely healed and her new owner will need to continue with her current regimen.

While in her previous owners care Delaney was also kept in a kennel, so she is working on house training but is still not 100%. However with her terrier intelligence and her loving personality any family who is willing to take on Delaney’s medical issues and training will find themselves with a beautiful girl who will spend years wriggling into their heart.  Home with Westie and/or allergy/skin experience preferred.

Delanie went to a Westie experienced home, well versed in skin problems...great home for this sweet girl, residing in Seattle, WA

(Adopted Dec.8/07)
Evey
5 year old
Chihuahua/Terrier
Female/Spayed

How do you feel about a little shadow by your side?  Well let me introduce myself I'm Evey a sweet and loving dog who really wants to hang out with people. I am great with other dogs, don't get me wrong,  but am really a people oriented.  I am not too clingy but do enjoy some major snuggle time.  I came from a puppy mill situation so I don't know much when it comes to obedience or walking on a leash- so be patient with me.  You should plan on taking me thru a Positive Reward Based Training Class when you adopt me- if you think I might be the one.

Evey has a wonderful spoiled life, and helping a young girl who needed Evey as much as Evey needed her.  Residing happily in Lynden, WA

(Adopted Dec.10/07)
Nakita
Maltese
Female/spayed/shots current
5 years old
7 lbs

*sadly in March/2018 this sweet girl passed away from cancer*

Have Mercy, I have arrived. The ultimate in cuteness. My Foster Mom
say's that there ought to be a law against being this darn cute. What
can I say, she is right I am darned cute. My life so far has not been
the greatest though. I did grow up in a puppy mill and I guess they just
wanted me for having puppies. That was sad but I know things will be
better for me now because I hear that these nice people at Furbaby
rescue are going to get me a good forever home. I love people, I like to
cuddle and just be near someone. I also like other small dogs. I love,
love, love to go for walks and am very good on a leash. I like car rides
and toys and I'm told that I am a good eater too. I do have to be honest
though, I am not perfect yet, whoever adopts me is going to need to
teach me this potty training stuff!! I am trying but I have a ways to
go. You will need to have some patience with this. I am smart though and
my Foster Mom says it will come in time. Oh and I love to dress up, what
girl doesn't. Well there you have it, if you are looking for the almost
perfect package, give me a chance, I won't  disappoint you. Love from
Nakita

Darling Nakita, is a special lil girl, who joined the home of Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty and Tobias residing in Sultan with their great Mom.

Petey
Chihuahua
5 yr old
Male/Neutered/shots current
10 lbs

So nice to meet you...my name is Petey.  Let me tell you about my story.  You see, my dad died and my mom decided I was not worth keeping anymore so when my dad passed away she dumped me at our local shelter.  I was pretty scared there, as I am sure you could imagine, my dad is gone,  my house is gone-  the shelter staff knew I would never find my new forever home while at the shelter since I was acting so terrified of everyone and everything.  So they called these nice folks at Furbaby Rescue.  My foster home knew right away that although I was settling in, something was just not right.  I went in immediately for a veterinary exam- well turns out I have bilateral luxtating patella's (read more about that down below)  I had really bad teeth and several abscessed teeth as well as an enlarged prostate.  I was a mess! No wonder I was uncomfortable. So they did blood work on me, neutered me, clean my teeth, extracted all the bad teeth, did x-rays on my knees and hip... whew, what a day! But I am SO much better now!  I will need surgery on both of my knees and of course Furbaby Rescue will take care of that.  Right now, before the knee surgery, I am on a medication to control the pain. After surgery the vet says I should be as good as new and I should be fine in the years to come. Since both of my knees are effected, its probably genetic.

So, as you can imagine I was pretty weary of my new surroundings.  But my foster home is just giving me time to settle in.  I am doing great.

I am fine with other small dogs,  I am quiet, LOVE to go on walks, enjoy snuggling and wrestling a bit.  I am fine with most everyone, but LOVE men...A quiet home with no children or grandkids is best for me.  When we first meet I will need for you to go slow,  bring some treats though... and we will become great friends!
Petey has a wonderful Dad residing in Vancouver, B.C. Canada

Sugar (nka Sophie)
4 1/2 month old
Chihuahua Mix
Female/spayed/shots current

Hi Y'all! I'm Sugar or Shug for short. Originally from our local shelter I was pretty timid there, but I am blossoming at my foster home!  I am a young spry girl who enjoys playing with other dogs and being a part of the family.  I am a silly girl who is just waiting for the perfect home to love me forever!

I am just now learning all the basic things a puppy needs to be all she can be.

You should plan on taking me thru a Positive Reward Based Obedience Class as soon as I am adopted,  I am willing to learn it all!

Great new parents, for this special girl, residing in Auburn, WA

(Adopted Dec.22/07)
Honey (nka GiGi)
Maltese/Silky Terrier
Female/spayed/shots current
12 months old
8 lbs

Honey is just like her name, sweet as honey, adorable, playful, loving and SMART.  She is fine with other dogs, though at times, in true terrier fashion, her chew is hers, not theirs, but she shares fine with people:-)  She listens well, she is joyous, happy and a doll.  She does need more housetraining manners.  If you want a playful girl, who wants to cuddle with you, this girl is the one.
PS...I am way cuter then my picture
This adorable little girl, got a very special home for Christmas, a couple who just lost their furbaby, and needed one to crawl right into their hearts, and she sure did.  Residing in Bellingham, WA

(Adopted Dec.28/07)
Brogan
Welsh Terrier
Male/neutered/shots current
9 1/2 months old
20 lbs

Brogan needs a new home, one that provides discipline, affection and plenty of exercise.  Brogan lives with his original adoptive family so he has been cared for by dog lovers from his beginning, he loves to go to dog parks and will run & play with all interested parties. He is very happy, very curious and a bit full of himself. He loves car rides,  walks at the park and just wants to be wherever you are, a perfect companion dog, very smart and alert, learns fast (knows several tricks) and does not bark without a reason.

DON'T BE FOOLED!

Brogan needs boundaries and due to a strong alpha personality, he will try to manipulate and control, sometimes by using his ultra cuteness, or a mere glance, he is fearless, tough and strong willed.  Brogan should be an only dog or perhaps have a doggie friend the same size or bigger. Similar breed and age.  Needs a playmate who has his energy level and can keep up with him.  No cats, wants to chase them.  No small kids, thinks they are squeak toys when they squeal. Brogan does not do well left alone for long periods, to much energy, needs to be busy.  Needs a fenced yard, will not hesitate to run off, will dig under fence if left alone in yard for too long. Knows how to use a pet door.

Brogan is a One in a million dog!, and his family is sad to have to let him go, but feels this is best for him and them (they do have 7 other dogs)

Are you that One in a million family?
People with Welsh or similar breed experience required.

Brogan now resides with another Welsh, a Standard Schnauzer and a great family, residing in Lynden, WA
