Successful Other Small Breed Adoptions
(Adopted July 5/07)
Firby
Long haired Chihuahua
Male/neutered/shots current
5 lbs
Yes,I am adorable if I do say so myself! My photo does not do me justice... I am a great little guy who really just wants to be loved. I am good with strangers and other dogs, but I will admit I play the "chase me " game when I don't want to come when called, so some obedience would be a good idea for me. I can be a touch growly around my food bowl (around other dogs, not people) So I will need some help learning that food will always be there when I need it...
As soon as I got to
Furbaby Rescue I had to go to the vet, I had to have all of my teeth
pulled, as they were all falling out! I am still a good eater, just be
patient with me while I learn to eat without pain! I have recently been
neutered, so I will need to be trained in that department.
Great new home, now residing in Sooke, B.C. Canada
(Adopted July 11/07)
Shilo
Pekingese
Female/spayed/shots current
18 months old
12 lbs
*sweet Shilo crossed the bridge May
2019*
To know Shilo is to fall in love, she will keep you giggling with her
antics. She adores to play, and she will find a dog, and make sure they
play with her. She will nibble your toes as you walk, she is lil pistol of
love, and entertainment. She is such an imp, within 24 hours, she will
tell her story with her woo woos...she will cuddle in your lap, give you kisses,
or bat your face...but watch out, once she has you under your spell, you will be
a goner...and oh keep the chairs in at the kitchen table, if you leave any food,
by gosh, up up and away she goes...she is just full of herself.
This girl is just adorable.
And she now has a fantastic home with Mowgli and super
parents residing in White Rock, B.C. Canada
(Adopted July 13/07)
Spritzer
Long Haired Chihuahua
Male neutered/shots current
4 lbs
4 years old
I am named for being light and bubbly! I am a really great dog who is hoping you might be the one for me. I am a small Chi who could stand to gain some weight... and love treats so that won't be tough to do! When I came into Furbaby Rescue I had to get neutered and have my teeth cleaned and some of my teeth pulled out. I am really happy now that my mouth does not hurt and so I eat more treats!
I am good with strangers and other dogs and can't wait for a new forever home!
Spritzer now lives
happily in Ferndale, WA
(Adopted July 13/07)

Look no further if you want a new best buddy... I am a total lover and can't wait to find your lap! I like strangers and other dogs so I can ease into just about any household... I just got my teeth cleaned and had to have a few teeth pulled, but I am a better dog for it! I also just got neutered, so be patient while I learn the house rules.
If you are looking for
someone to be your tag-a-long pal... that's me!

Zoë
Cocker Spaniel
Female/spayed/shots current
App 4-5 years old
24 lbs
Zoë is a good girl, but can have her stubborn cocker streak. She is
housetrained, likes walks, car rides. She likes to follow her person
around and sit by you. Does equally well with men and women. Has no
problem with resident dogs. Her one issue is, she is NOT fond of children.
Adult home only
Zoë got a very special home, living with her new brother Chauncey
fka Chewbacca residing in Lynden, WA
(Adopted July 16/07)
Dylan
Italian Greyhound
Male/neutered/shots current
App. 7 years old
15"tall 15 lbs
*Dylan passed 2019*
Dylan came from a breeder who is downsizing her kennel. He is learning
there is more to life. He loves people and is very affectionate. He
knows his name and does come when called.
Dylan spent the day at the vet and got all his needs meet (neutered, shots,
microchipped) but the most improvement is his smile, his teeth were just horrid,
now he has pearly whites and fresh breath for his new family.
Dylan is working on his paper training and is doing very well.
Don't pass up Dylan because he is a Greyhound. Italian Greyhounds are not
like racing hounds. PLEASE READ UP ON THEM! They are great pet for
apartments, not good in the cold and need little exercise (just a short walk
daily)
All Dylan needs is a little love and a family he can love.
Dylan has a nice new Dad, residing in Seattle, WA
These darling four
Maltese babies are so very thankful for the kindness shown to them by the
women who took them out of a very neglectful situation. She scooped them
right up and then called rescue!! (Thanks Jessie!) We believe they
have all lived most of their lives in kennels so have not been properly
socialized. They are, however, doing very well in foster care and are
truly sweethearts! Their new owners will need to be patient with them
while they learn about the world outside of a kennel. They are all very
shy, but warm up quickly once they know you. They are currently in potty
training 101 and doing nicely. It would be wonderful for all of them if
they could have a buddy similar in size and breed to help them gain self
confidence. Due to their tiny size, an ADULT HOME ONLY please.
Once in rescue, all dogs have been altered, shots, dental, microchipped and
MUCH more:-(
(Adopted Aug.1/07)
Dolly
Female/spayed
3 years old
8 lbs
Oh me oh my what a
cutie pie! Miss Dolly is making great progress in foster care and was by
far the shyest of this group. I'm so proud of the progress she is
making! As with the others, there is still much she needs to learn yet
and it will just take time and patience with her new family. She is
really coming out of her shell and I'm starting the see more and more of
her true personality everyday! She's another sweetheart that just
needs to gain her self confidence. She also loves to play and be held.
Need a little shadow?
Dolly found her forever home in Spokane, WA
(Adopted/ 07)
Houston
Male/neutered
5 years old
4 lbs
*Sweet lil boy passed Oct/18*
Oh dear sweet little
Houston! He is the most outgoing of the group and adores nothing more
than sitting in your lap or being carried about. He also has many new
things to learn, but if you are willing to give him patience and time the
rewards of his love will be great! When you first walk into the room,
he does the squiggly, wiggly happy dance now! He will bond quickly to
his new owners as well as the others will.
Houston has staining around his eyes, from the hair sticking in his eyes and
neglect causing ulcers...which are now being treated, and doing well.
Great home residing in Chilliwack, B.C. Canada
(Adopted July
18/07)
Martin
Male/neutered
3 years old
4 lbs
Oh spunky wee
little Martin man! What a little character he is once he warms up
and if feeling comfortable in his new surroundings! He loves to play
and snuggle with you whenever possible. He is also coming along very
wonderfully in his foster home. He will also need a new owner that
has patience and loves to carry a teeny tiny little one around with
them. Martin is just the sweetest little guy with much
to learn!!
Another fantastic home, residing in Port Moody, B.C. Canada
(Adopted July
28/07)
Wallace
Male/neutered
12 months old
4 lbs
Wallace is being fostered with Martin and he is the shyest of the two of them. He barks a little when you first enter the room, then he runs over and will jump in your lap if you are sitting on the floor and he knows you. He loves to be held and has been caught napping with his foster Daddy in the recliner!! He will also steal Martin's treats when he's not looking! He is a dear and coming along very nicely in his foster home.
Happily residing in Ferndale, WA
(Adopted Aug.1/07)
CoCo Puff
Border Terrier X
Female/spayed/shots current
6 months old
10 lbs
Just look into my eyes... you can see I am a loving but feisty girl! Are you looking for an active buddy to call your best friend? Look no further.
I was brought to a shelter because I was allot to handle ... surprise.. I'm a puppy! We are all allot to handle! We need tons of structure, consistency and follow thru from all the humans in our lives. I have been missing all of that in my life so far, but I am coming around!
I have lots of energy so an active home where we can go on 2 to 3 walks per day, big long weekend hikes or arrange playdates is best for me. I have been to doggie day care and love it... other dogs rock!
Due to my age, you should plan on taking me to a Positive Reward Based Training Class (in your area) , in fact it will be required for my adoption.
If you are the
permanent, responsible, loving home I am waiting for... I can't wait to meet
you!
Warm and loving home, now residing in Bellingham, WA
Birdie (Adopted)
and Robin (Adopted)
Italian Greyhounds
Female/spayed/shots current
Birdie (10 lbs/10 months old)
Robin (12 lbs/16 months old)
Robin
and Birdie are 2 beautiful sisters who until they came into rescue had never
lived in a house. They were raised in a kennel and though they were handled
somewhat and never abused they were not socialized and were terrified of all the
changes they were experiencing as they began to live with people. Luckily
they were used to being around other dogs so they soon began to interact with
the dogs in their foster homes and even to follow them around some. Before too
long they began to learn that people have good things and started to come up at
first to take treats; then to put their little paws on laps and accept pets; and
finally to enjoy sitting on laps and being carried around. In the 4 months they
have been in foster care, they have learned to go potty outside or on papers
(most of the time). They have learned to wear collars and harnesses and are
beginning to learn to walk on a leash. They recognize their names and come
running to get treats or to go inside. They are learning that there is enough
food to go around and are better at sharing treats. They are more and more
comfortable riding in a car and meeting new people and they are beginning to
show their personalities and preferences.
Robin
is the love bug. She loves to be carried around, to cuddle in your lap and is up
asking for pets as soon as she sees her person. Robin can also be a bit pushy
with her sister about getting food and treats. Robin loves to run and play but
her first priority is being by her person and getting love. Robin enjoys being
with you and doesn’t mind being handled. She is beginning to like her car
rides and loves being carried around the yard and meeting new people cuddled in
your arms.
Birdie
is the tomboy. She loves to play and run. She loves her toys and if her sister
doesn’t want to play she will find another pup who will. Birdie is pure puppy.
She is an explorer and loves to get into thing. Her favorite adventure is
pulling things out of bags-purses, grocery bags, laundry baskets…It’s all
wonderful to Birdie as she runs through the house with her trophies. When she is
tired it is time to curl up in a puppy pile with her sister and any other dog
friends she can find. Birdie is definitely the shyer of the two with people. She
takes longer to warm up to people, accepts less cuddling and handling and is
still having more trouble with leash walking and riding in the car than Robin.
These
girls are beginning to be ready for their forever homes but their home or homes
will need to be very special. There is still a lot of work to be done in
socializing these beautiful young ladies. However we believe that it can best be
done in a home where they can stay. These 2 girls either need to be placed
together or if they are placed separately they must be placed in a home with
another dog; in our experience dogs from this type of situation do not do well
as only dogs. They need to go
into homes with experience with sighthounds. We
prefer an adult home but may consider a home with older teens. If you have the
patience and devotion to continue to work to socialize these little gems you
will find your arms (and your heart) filled with their beauty.
Birdie has a great home in California, and Robin in Spokane, WA

Jolly
Long haired Chihuahua
Male neutered/shots current
5 lbs
*darling Jolly passed away from congestive
heart failure Aug.27/2014*
I am very pleased to meet you... I am Jolly, a sweet, happy and loving little dog. I am very quiet and relaxed. I enjoy the company of other dogs and cats, but am content to be an only dog too. I am crate trained and use a doggie door for potty.
When I first came into Furbaby Rescue I had to go to the vet right away, my teeth were a mess. As a result I had to have them all removed... sad, I know, but I am doing just fine with it. I eat Natural Balance dog food and will need to eat a semi soft food like that forever. I am kind messy if I eat canned food, so this is best for me.
The vet also found out I have a mild form of disk disease in by low back. As a result I need to take some medication every day to control the pain... but my foster mom puts it in my food and I don't even know its there!
If you have a quiet
home and are looking for a snuggle bunny, I am the boy for you!
Fantastic home was found for this special lil fellow, in Bellingham, WA
